First Finish of the Year?

OK, so maybe not quite, but the top is finished. I had the house to myself last night, and again today for my day off, and I've been sewing like crazy. And finally, I present 4OT:

It is so big that it almost touched the ground when I hung it on the line. And yes, it's very sunny out, hence the glowy appearance.

I found the quilt fairly easy to put together; my only problem was that the small star blocks were a tad smaller than the alternate blocks, which meant a bit of a rejig of the "1/4" inch seams. All the points and intersections have worked out perfectly though. My only worry is the star points along the border; some might disappear once I bind the quilt...
What I need now is an opinion; what colour backing should I go for? I'd like to quilt it with a neutral coloured thread, but I'm not sure if that should influence the backing. Basically it needs to be one of the fabrics from the front, but which one?

Absolutely beautiful Kate. I bought this pattern late last year and will get to it this year (I hope, I hope).

Kate it is just beautiful...that one is on my list for this year. I'd use a light backing that had all the colors in it. You can't go wrong with anything you choose.

I really like the dark reds in the quilt. If it were mine, I would probably try one of them as the binding. Then again, you could always try some Prairie Points and see how they look. It's funny but I always find the binding choice to be one of the most difficult parts. sigh. I am newly returned to quilting so be forewarned! lol It is a stunning quilt!!

Your quilt turned out beautiful! I love Miss Rosie's patterns. I don't think you can go wrong with any of those fabrics as your back, just pick one you love. Are you quilting it yourself? I just match bobbin thread to the back and the top thread to the top and then it all matches fine :)

Your top is beautiful. You can't go wrong with any of the used colors though I agree with Kate and would go for red.

What a great first finish! The first thing that I thought for the backing would be blue. Look forward to the hoice you make!
