Miss Kate by Bonnie and Camille

I swear their fabric ranges just keep getting better! I have a limited number of Miss Kate pre-cuts in stock; once they're gone, they won't be restocked until approximately September.

Lunch with Kate Spain

I was checking my email on the way to the airport when I saw one from Pete Spain, husband of Kate Spain. They had seen that I was going to be in the US and asked to meet me! As it happened, I was going to be driving from New York City to Boston, so we were able to stop in for lunch on the way.

I was greeted with a hug and it was immediately clear that we were going to get on like a house in fire. I happened to have one of my quilts in the car, so that came in for show and tell, and approval by one of the three cats.

Then Kate took me up to her studio to show me how she designs her fabrics. I took a few little snaps of some of the work that went into her upcoming line Horizon. These are some of the prints done by hand.

I love the jade greens in this line.

I also got to see strike-offs of the next line, but it's still top secret.

Kate then took us on a walk around the area, and we returned to the house for lunch. Too soon it was time to get back on the road and head for Boston. But not before Kate had loaded me up with a heap of her goodies and a promise to catch up at Quilt Market in Houston.

I'm Off!

Tomorrow I'm off on an adventure to the USA. I'll be visiting New York City, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

I'll be closing the shop while I'm away but you can continue to place orders. And I'll try to keep my blog updated!

Beef Casserole

With the cooler weather upon us, there isn't much better than a slow-cooked meal to fill the belly. This beef casserole is a new discovery of mine and it was so good I'll definitely be making it again.

I used Oyster Blade for the meat; not too expensive and it always cooks beautifully.

I also added carrot and zucchini to mine, and excluded the mushrooms as I don't like them. This is what it looked like after almost three hours in the oven:

And with the dumplings cooked on top. My only suggestion is to make sure there is plenty of liquid before this step, as what was left in my pot evaporated with the lid off.

You can find the recipe here.

Lazy Day by Lori Whitlock for Riley Blake Designs

I know I've been a bad blogger lately; juggling two jobs and a business just sucks up a lot of time. But I promise I'm still here.

Some cute new fabrics in the shop this week, including Lazy Day by Lori Whitlock for Riley Blake Designs. The range features gorgeous flowers, owls and hot air balloons. We've got yardage, Rolie Polies, and Stackers.

Pop on in to take a look.

Daydream Quilting

With Daydream yardage delayed in the warehouse, I've had to think on my feet and order some yardage from the US to get this finished in time. Borders went on Wednesday night, and I ducked down to mum's today to get it basted; my lounge room floor just isn't big enough.

I'm using the Ikea number print fabric as it's wide enough for this quilt (which is 88" square). I've heard a rumour they are discontinuing it, too...

She's now in the machine. I have a deadline!
